Hymns for Veteran's Day (11 November)

A selection of free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) hymns and songs suitable for American Veteran's Day services.

"Free-to-use" means the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - sometimes in a limited setting.

Seasonal note

Veteran's Day is an American observance, which now remembers with gratitude all former members of the
armed forces - as opposed to Memorial (Remembrance) Day which is for those who died at war.

After World War I, Armistice Day was observed on 11 November homoring veterans that war. After World War II, the American Congress to changed the title "Veterans Day" in 1954, and November 11 became a day to honor and give thanks for all American veterans, where-ever and when-ever they served.

Hymns for Veterans Day services generally focus on thankfulness for the service of all veterans,  God's blessing and peace for the nation, as well as American patriotism.
