Suggested hymns for St George's Day (23 April)

A selection of hymns and songs for events associated with St George, the patron saint of England.

These hymns are based on
  • St George himself,
  • The characteristics associated with him, viz Courage, Chivalry and Charity (AKA the 3 C's)
  • England and English, characteristics.

Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - although sometimes in a limited setting.  Many of these hymns are old / traditional - but where possible a variety of styles and genres are included.
