Hymns about Jesus calming the storm

This is a selection of hymns based the story of Jesus calming a violent storm at sea / in a lake.   This story is told in Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41 and Luke 8:22-25.

The lists here does not include hymns about other topics which could be implied from the story (eg Jesus as a source of calm through the storm of like), or songs with incidental references to storms.  The focus is songs which are directly and mainly about Jesus / God and a storm on the water.

The list is grouped into two sections:
  • Free-use (either copyright has expired, or the author has allowed them to be freely used)
  • Still subject to copyright and so can only be used if you are covered by a copyright license.
Both children's and adults hymns / songs are included in each list - because except for the youngest of children, it is is difficult to draw a clear distinction between them.
