Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - sometimes in a limited setting. Many of these hymns are old / traditional - but where possible a variety of styles and genres are included.
A small selection of hymns which are still copyright may also be included if they are particularly relevant.
Readings
First: Ecclesiastics 3:17-20, 28-29 - Be gentle in carrying out your business - the greater you are the more you should behave humbly and then you will find favour with the Lord.Psalm: 67 - In you goodness O God, you prepared a home for the poor / The just shall rejoice at the presence of God / Father of the orphan, defender of the widow / You poured down O God a generous rain.
Second: Hebrews 12: 18-19, 22-24 - You have come to Mount Zion, city of the living God, where millions of angels have gathered for a festival ... where everyone is a "first born son" and citizen of heaven. You have come to God ... to Jesus the mediator who brings a new covenant.
Gospel: Luke 14 1, 7-14 - Parable of the wedding banquet: always take the last seat - the one who exults himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself exalted.
