Seasonal note
Since 2012, 17 August has featured on the liturgical Calendar as the Memorial of Our Lady of Knock. See Hymns for Our Lady of Knock for additional suggestions.If the feast of the Assumption (15 August) is on a Saturday, in some countries it is transferred to the Sunday.

Second: Romans 11: 115, 29-32 - Paul identifies himself as an apostle to the Gentiles, and makes it clear that all can receive God's mercy
Gospel: Matthew 15:21-28 - The Canaanite woman asks Jesus for healing for her daughter who is tormented by a demon.” The disciples urged him to send her away, and he initially refuses to help. But she persists, saying that even the dogs get crumbs from the master's table. He sees the greatness of her faith and the daughter is healed.
