Hymns for the 5th Sunday of Easter, Year C (18 May 2025) - Revised Common lectionary

A selection of hymns and songs, based on themes from the Revised Common lectionary for the fifth Sunday of Easter, Year C.

Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - sometimes in a limited setting.   Many of these hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles and genres are included.

A small number of particularly appropriate hymns that are still copyright may also be included.

Readings

First: Acts 11:1-18 - "What God has made clean, you must not call profane."  ... Peter explains why he believes that ... "Then God has given even to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life."

Psalm: 148 - Praise the Lord, praise the Lord from the heavens.

Second: Apocalypse 21: 1-6 - John saw a new heaven and new earth - the new Jerusalem ... now I am making the whole of creation new.

Gospel:   John 13: 31-35- I will give you a new commandment, love one another just as I have loved you.
