A selection of hymns and songs, based on themes from the Roman Catholic lectionary for the sixth Sunday of Easter, Year C.

Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free), meaning that the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - sometimes in a limited setting. Many of these hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles and genres are included.

A small selection of particularly appropriate hymns which are still copyright may also be included.

6th Sunday of Easter, Year B




Readings

First: Acts 15:1-2, 22-29 - The church chose Judas and Silas to accompany Paul and Barnabas to Antioch to resolve a problem

 Psalm: 66 - Let all the peoples praise you O God / O God be gracious and bless us / Let the nations exult and be glad.

 Second: Apocalypse 21: 10-14, 22-23 - John is shown a vision of the holy city, which is lit by the radiant glory of God.

 Gospel:   John 14: 23-29 - Jesus said "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word ... I have said these things, but the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send will teach and remind you.   My peace I bequeath to you - I am going away.


Themes

The radiance of God.   Christ's legacy to us.   Peace.    Looking forward to Pentecost / the Holy Spirit which will guide the church.
