Hymns suggestions for the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year A (19 November 2023) - Catholic lectionary

Hymns and song suggestions, based on themes from the Roman Catholic lectionary for the thirty-third Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year A.

Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing. Readings

First: Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 - The perfect wife - who can find her.  She is busy, generous to the poor, and wise.   She deserves her share, and public recognition.

Psalm 127 - O blest are those who fear the Lord / Your wife like a fruitful vine / Indeed thus shall be blessed .

Second: I Thessalonians 5:1-6 - The day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night - but you are all children of the light ... stay wide awake.

Gospel: Matthew 22 25:14-30 - Parable of the talents ... for everyone who has will be given more.


Themes

Christ is head of the household which is the church - he has a good wife, devoted children and faithful servants.

Service - using the talents God has provided.  Stewardship.
