Seasonal note

The 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time is also the World Day for the Poor:   See this website for suggested liturgy resources, and this list of hymn suggestions.

First: Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 - The perfect wife - who can find her.  She is busy, generous to the poor, and wise.   She deserves her share, and public recognition.

Psalm 127 - O blest are those who fear the Lord / Your wife like a fruitful vine / Indeed thus shall be blessed .

Second: I Thessalonians 5:1-6 - The day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night - but you are all children of the light ... stay wide awake.

Gospel: Matthew 22 25:14-30 - Parable of the talents ... for everyone who has will be given more.

Christ is head of the household which is the church - he has a good wife, devoted children and faithful servants.

Service - using the talents God has provided.  Stewardship.
