Judges 4:1-7 - The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD:  after being oppressed cruelly for twenty years they cried out to the Lord for help, and went to Deborah, a prophetess, for guidance.
Zephaniah 1:7, 12-18 - The day of judgement is at hand - neither silver nor their gold will be able to save the people on the day of the Lord's wrath.

Second: I Thessalonians 5:1-11- The day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night - but you are all children of the light ... stay wide awake.

Gospel: Matthew 22 25:14-30 - Parable of the talents ... for everyone who has will be given more.

Christ is head of the household which is the church - he has a good wife, devoted children and faithful servants.  But the day of judgement will come - use the talents God has provided wisely.  Stewardship.
