Hymns for the 6th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year C

A selection of  hymns and song suggestions, based on themes from the Roman Catholic lectionary for the sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year C.

Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing. Many such hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles / genres are included.

Seasonal note

The 6th Sunday does not appear in the liturgical calendar every year, depending on the timing of Easter.


First: Jeremiah - A blessing on the man who puts his trust in the Lord.

Psalm: Psalm 1 - Happy is the man who has placed his trust in the Lord

Second: I Corinthians - Christ has .. been raised form the dead, the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep.

Gospel: Luke - The Beatitudes:   happy are the poor in spirit.
