Hymns for Proper 10 (15), Year C (5th Sunday after Pentecost, 13 July 2025) - Revised Common Lectionary

A selection of hymns and songs, based on themes from the Revised Common lectionary for the fifth Sunday after Pentecost, Year C.

Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing. Many such hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles / genres are included.

A small selection of hymns which are, or may be, still copyright are also included where they are a particularly good for for the theme(s).

Readings

First: 
Amos 7:7-17 The prophet Amos sees what the Lord is showing him, and hears and responds to the call preach the Lord's message. This causes political issues, but Amos was undeterred, and prophesied that Israel shall surely go into exile away from its land.
OR
Deuteronomy 30:10-14 - Moses tells the people to obey the voice of God, keeping the commandments and laws that are in the Book, and he reassures them that this is possible for them, because God's word is very near.

Psalm:  
82 - God has taken his place in the divine council
OR
25 - To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

Second: Colossians 1:1-14  - Paul greets the believes in Colossae, telling them that his community is praying for them and thanking God that they have faith in Christ Jesus ... "May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience ... He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son."


Gospel:   Luke 10:25-37 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself  - the parable of the Good Samaritan
