This is a title-page picture for the twentieth Sunday of Ordinary Time in year C, based on the readings from the Roman Catholic and Revised Common lectionaries.
It is part of the Sunday-cover-page series, based on an an art-work which is in the public domain: It can be used freely, with no concerns about copyright.
Artwork
Adapted from The Sermon on the Mount by Danish painter, Carl Bloch (1834–1890). Source.
Note: The Gospel for today is from Luke, not the Sermon on the Mount
(Matthew 5-7). However the readings don't particularly suggest any
images (apart form fire, which makes people think of Pentecost. So an
alternative was needed.
The image
here shows Jesus preaching to people divided to his left and right.
Internet sources attribute it as Bloch's Sermon on the Mount, but I've not
been able to confirm this: Possible a contemporary artist adapted it
from the image used in the pictures below - and if this is the case, it's
not free-use. However the better-know Bloch Sermon on the Mount is
free-to-use, and does give this idea.
If you can suggest a better free-use image to use for this day, please
leave a message in the Comments box near the bottom of the page.
