Hymns for the 9th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C

A selection of hymns and songs, based on themes from the Roman Catholic lectionary for the 9th Sunday of Ordinary Time in Year C.

Most are "Free-to-use" (ie public domain or copyright-free), meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - sometimes in a limited setting.   Many such hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles and genres are included.

A few hymns that are still copyright may also be listed, if they are a particularly good fit.

Readings

First: I Kings 8:41-43 - Solomon tells the people to welcome foreigners who come in the Lord's name.

Psalm: 116 - Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News / O praise the Lord / strong is his love for us.

Second: Galatians 1:1-2, 6-10 - Paul exhorts the churches of Galatia to be faithful to the Good News as Jesus preached it, and to condemn those preaching a different message.

Gospel:   Luke 7:1-10 - Jesus heals the Roman centurion's son.
